Journal vs. Database

Journals (also called periodicals) contain scholarly research articles.  Examples of journals would be: Journal of Nursing Education or Shakespeare Quarterly.

A database is a collection of journals and the articles within them.  Examples of databases are the Proquest Education Database or CINAHL. You can search our databases by a simple keyword, article title or a journal title.  To search all databases at once, use our library search.  To figure out which journal is found in which database use the journal search above.
