The SFC library is currently closed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The library will continue to provide support to SFC faculty and students. Here is a summary of the library’s services during this school closing:
Library Chat will be available to answer all reference questions. Online chat support is available 24/7 (even during school closing).
To access Library Chat please visit the Ask a Librarian page or use the chat box on the left-hand side of this page.
For help conducting library research, check out our guide to basic library research.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to check out physical books and textbooks during this time. Please note that the library does not have electronic versions of textbooks so students will not be able to access physical textbooks through the library’s website.
In response to the coronavirus outbreak many publishers and library vendors are providing free access to licensed digital content in order to help colleges with the transition to online learning. We've compiled a handy list of free digital resources that might be useful to the SFC community here. Check out these two highlighted resources:
VitalSource Helps is a program offering free access to a huge collection of eBooks for students who no longer have access to course materials due to college campus closings. All SFC students can access this eBook collection free of charge until May 25th 2020. Sign up with your @sfc.edu email address here.
RedShelf has partnered with academic publishers to provide free access to digital textbooks for students affected by college closures until May 25th 2020. Each student may access up to seven free eBooks.
If you need help navigating these collections, or finding a specific resource, please feel free to contact a librarian for assistance.
Off-campus library users have continued access to all of the library’s electronic resources. You will need your SFC log-in information in order to access them off-campus.
You can find electronic resources using our all-in-one search on the library homepage. Or you can skip straight to our eBook catalog and databases to search for electronic resources.
Library eBooks can be found through searching our eBook catalog.
If you need help accessing or downloading an eBook, please visit our helpful eBook guide.
All SFC Library databases are available off-campus. A full list of our databases can be found here
The library will continue to provide Interlibrary Loan services for journal articles. To request an article use the ILL Request: Article form.
