Introduction to eBooks
Electronic books are one of the many resources SFC Library has to offer. The purpose of this section is to teach you how to search and access eBooks that are available for students at the library. Check out our video tutorial at the bottom of this page.

Finding an eBook using the Library Website
- Begin on the main page.
- Select the "Books and Media" tab.
- Either type in the title of a book or a topic of interest. For the purpose of this search " academic writing" and " college writing" can be useful search terms to use.
- On the left column of the search page, under " Refine My Results" select availability and resource type. Under each of these selections, click "available online" and "books". This would limit the search results to only eBooks. You can also select any other option based on your resource needs.
- Select "APPLY FILTERS" to implement the changes.
- Once you've selected a book, click on "available online" and the link will open in a new window.
- Sign in using your SFC username/password this will give you access to the book (needed for off-campus access)
- On the book page, be sure to take a look at the availability section to confirm that the library has access to the eBook.
- If there's access, you can click " Read Online" and start reading the book right away on the website or download it to your device.
Download an eBook
Download Adobe Digital Editions (free) and install.- Create a free Adobe ID account. (required)
- Find the ebook you want to download and sign in with your SFC username and password.
Click on the Full Download link.- Select "Laptop Desktop" and click "Continue".
Click on the Full Download link.
If you successfully downloaded and installed Adobe Digital Editions, click "Done with this step".
If you successfully downloaded and installed Adobe Digital Editions, click "Do
Select download period, and choose between EPUB or PDF format.- Click "Download Your Book".

- Download Adobe Digital Editions app (free) on your device.
- Sign up for a free Adobe ID account.
Optional:
Download an ebook reader app on your device. This will give you more functionality than reading the ebook in Adobe Digital Editions (ie. annotations, bookmarks, customize format etc).
- Note: The app must be compatible with Adobe DRM. We recommend Pocket Book Reader.
Step 1:
Click on the "Full Download" link.- Select your device (iOS or Android) and click "Continue".
Step 2:
If you already downloaded the Adobe Digital Editions app (and your ebook reader app if you are using one), click "Done with this step".
Step 3:
- Select download period and format (EPUB is recommended for mobile and tablet), then click "Download Your Book".
