What is Criminal Justice?

Criminal Justice studies focus on the analysis of crime as a social phenomenon, potential causes of crime, criminology, and other aspects of crime.

According to Brittanica, Criminal Justice studies can also include interdisciplinary academic study of the police, criminal courts, correctional institutions (e.g., prisons), and juvenile justice agencies, as well as of the agents who operate within these institutions. 

At St. Francis College, those interested in the study of Criminal Justice can take courses within the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. Their mission is to provide our students with the knowledge, confidence and motivation to think deeply about social issues in modern society. We seek to instill an intellectual curiosity in our students for lifelong learning and an appreciation for objectivity, application of the scientific method, and critical thinking.
