Embedded Librarian Program
The Library is pleased to offer our services as Embedded Librarians. A librarian can be added to your Canvas pages for any course and post links to library resources and relevant library instruction videos. It also allows your students direct access to a dedicated librarian to answer their research questions.

Library Instruction
Librarians are available to provide library instruction sessions (both online and in-person). These can be tailored to any subject area, course or assignment. Just let us know what you need! Typical sessions may cover:
- Introduction to Library Resources
- Research Strategies and Tips
- Plagiarism and Citation Help
To schedule a session for your class email us at library@sfc.edu or contact your subject liaison librarian.
NOTE: Please submit requests at least one week in advance to ensure the availability of library instructors and preparation of materials.
Open Education Resources
Many studies show around two-thirds of students don't purchase a required textbook due to cost. It doesn't have to be this way! Open Education Resources (OER) are teaching materials that are freely accessible and openly licensed so anyone can use, adapt, remix, and share them.
The SFC library provides support for faculty who wish to replace expensive textbooks with OER. Check out our online OER guide for more info. If you need help getting started, submit a syllabus for review by one of our librarians who can give recommendations on available resources.
Library Guides
Our collection of Library Guides organize and highlight relevant resources for particular subject areas. We also have tutorials to help students master a variety of skills and technologies.

Faculty Staff Coffee Break
Every fall we host a Faculty Staff Coffee Break for faculty and staff. It's an informal event where we provide caffeine and snacks and demo the latest library technology. Watch for our fliers advertising the next Coffee Break!
