What is Google Scholar?

Google Scholar is a search engine that specifically searches scholarly literature and academic resources.

Can I use Google Scholar for my assignments?

Yes! Google Scholar is different from Google - it searches the same kinds of scholarly books and articles you can find in the SFC Library databases.

Can I just use Google Scholar instead of the library databases?

Google Scholar can be a convenient starting place, but it is not a comprehensive "one-stop shop." For more precise searching, more search features, and more content, use the Library's individual databases.

Step 1: Click the menu button on the Google Scholar search page   Menu icon

Step 2: Click settings (the gear icon)  Settings icon

Step 3: Select 'Library Links' and search for St Francis College

Step 4: Check the boxes for St Francis College Library in the search results. Also select 'Open WorldCat - Library Search to include articles freely available online in your results. Then click 'Save'.
