MLA Citation

Movie / DVD

Movie DVDFilms should be listed by title.  Include director, film studio or distributor and date of release.  If relevant (i.e. to help identify a specific version of a film), list actors after the director's name.

Titanic. Directed by James Cameron, performances by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, Twentieth Century Fox, 1999,

If you want to emphasize specific actors or directors you can also begin the citation with the person's name followed by their title. 

Branagh, Kenneth, director. Hamlet. Castle Rock Entertainment, 1996. 

 

YouTube / Online Video

Online VideoBasic Format:

Last Name, First Name of Creator. "Title of Video." Website. Name of Uploader, Date Uploaded, URL.

 

YouTube Example: 

Peter, Nice, et al. "Sir Isaac Newton vs Bill Nye. Epic Rap Battles of History Season 3." YouTube, uploaded by ERB, 16 June 2014, www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yis7GzlXNM.

If the creator and uploader are the same then just put the name of the uploader.

"Mean Tweets- Oscars Edition." You Tube, uploaded by Jimmy Kimmel Live, 26 Feb. 2017, https://youtu.be/hJCUJLMSEK0.

If citing an episode of a Television show, give the season and episode number.

Netflix Example:

"My Last Day." Scrubs, season 1, episode 24, 21 May 2002. Netflix, www.netflix.com/watch/70160084?trackId=14170287&tctx=0%2C0%2Cd852d24f-60fd-4b58-bca7-e52f909e1315-37340867
